Michael started taking photos in his high school photography class. He then continued on his path, attending Bakersfield College and Brooks Institute Of Photography, in Santa Barbara, California. Starting in 2008, he began shooting weddings, continuing on to capture countless concerts, and a handful of banquets and parties. Spending over a year in 2012 as a club photographer, he established himself in the nightlife scene, and has worked closely with La Ligera radio, RETI Promotions, California State University Bakersfield, and The Bakersfield Jazz Festival, hosted by CSUB.
In early 2017, Michael was diagnosed with a benign, but very serious astrocytoma brain tumor and spent close to a year in the hospital and bedrest. After a complication, he was diagnosed with sepsis and doctors gave a timeline of mere weeks left of his life. Michael spent a short time in a coma, but he fought through.
Once discharged from the hospital, he spent time in an in-patient physical rehabilitation center to recover from the muscle atrophy resulted from months in a hospital bed. He spent a few more months on bed rest at home, then was reduced to bi-weekly physical therapy.
Since making a nearly full recovery from this traumatic time, Michael has returned to keeping the highest commitment to quality and professionalism in his work with photography, and breaking into the world of video production.
A session with MKC is a session where you will share in the joy of life and happiness and have this sensation captured in photographic form.
